California Proposition 65 Information

Last updated: October 28, 2025

California’s Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act of 1986—commonly known as “Proposition 65”—requires businesses to provide warnings to Californians about potential exposure to chemicals that the State of California has determined may cause cancer, birth defects, or other reproductive harm. For general information from the State, please visit www.P65Warnings.ca.gov.

Why you may see a Proposition 65 warning

Many everyday products—especially items containing plastics (including PVC/vinyl), rubber, coated fabrics, painted/printed surfaces, metal hardware, or adhesives—can contain trace amounts of chemicals listed under Proposition 65. A warning does not mean a product is unsafe; rather, it means California requires a notice so consumers can make informed choices.

How MyKids-USA® approaches Prop 65

  • We work with suppliers to reduce or eliminate listed chemicals where feasible.
  • We provide Proposition 65 warnings on product pages when applicable or required by California.
  • We make this information page available to all guests for transparency.

Examples of product types that may display a warning

  • Bikes and ride-on toys with plastic/rubber components
  • Bags, backpacks, accessories with vinyl/PVC coatings or printed graphics
  • Items with painted, printed, or metal hardware components (snaps, zippers, trims)

What a Proposition 65 warning may look like

“⚠️ WARNING: This product can expose you to chemicals including DEHP, which is known to the State of California to cause cancer and birth defects or other reproductive harm. For more information, visit www.P65Warnings.ca.gov.”

Frequently asked questions

Does a warning mean the product is unsafe?
No. The warning is a California notice requirement and often reflects a very cautious exposure threshold. Our products are designed for normal consumer use and comply with applicable U.S. regulations.

Why do some retailers warn more than others?
Different businesses take different compliance approaches. We provide warnings when required or advisable to keep customers informed and to comply with California law.
